Every year the month of June celebrates the LGBT community in a number of different ways across the globe. As a way of recognizing the influence LGBT people have had around the world special events are held everywhere. June was selected as this was when the Stonewall Riots took place in 1969 in New York City.
As well as being a month long celebration, Pride month is also an opportunity to peacefully raise awareness of current issues facing the community. Parades are a prominent feature, many street parties, community events, poetry readings, public speaking, street festivals and educational sessions and although this year looks different for these events the message is still loud and clear.
Through technology, virtual options and distancing, the message remains clear; Diverse-Inclusive-Accepting-Welcoming-Safe Space-For Everyone
