Ontario Supporting Non-Profits through the Community Building Fund

Oct 5/21 - Ontario’s heritage, sport, tourism and culture industries were among the first and hardest hit, and are expected to take the longest to recover from COVID-19.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the government has supported those struggling the most. Today my colleague, Minister Lisa MacLeod, announced more than $46 million to support 648 non-profit tourism, culture, sport and recreation organizations through the Community Building Fund’s Operating stream. The funding will be used to help museums, theatres, fairs, attractions, sport and recreation organizations, and cultural institutions sustain operations in the short term – supporting essential expenditures such as staff salaries, as well as pandemic-related operational/technical costs – so can continue to deliver programming that is critical to the economic and social well-being of their communities.
