Minister McNaughton and the government have launched a recruitment campaign that will add nearly one hundred health and safety inspectors to ensure workers, their families, and the public will continue to be protected from the spread of COVID-19.
The new inspectors will play a key role in protecting workers by checking and enforcing that workplaces are in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Furthermore, inspectors will continue communicating COVID-related guidelines to assist businesses.
The full-year cost for the new inspectors will be $11.6 million with recruitment and training beginning in the fall.
